How to Refund V-Bucks in Fortnite (2026 Updated Guide)
Epic gives every Fortnite account a limited number of return tickets for accidental or regretted purchases. Here is exactly how to use them.
How Many Refund Tickets You Get
As of May 2026, every Fortnite account starts with 3 lifetime return tickets. Each successful refund costs 1 ticket. Once you have used all 3, you cannot get more — Epic does not replenish them.
You also earn 1 bonus ticket per year if you have a clean record (no refund abuse), but this is not guaranteed.
What V-Bucks Purchases Are Eligible for Refund
| Item Type | Refundable? |
|---|---|
| Outfits, back blings, pickaxes | Yes |
| Emotes, contrails, wraps, gliders | Yes |
| Battle Pass | No |
| Battle Pass tier purchases | No |
| Crew subscription | No (cancel instead) |
| V-Bucks themselves | No |
| Save the World founder pack | No |
Battle Pass and subscription purchases cannot be refunded with return tickets. You must contact Epic Support directly for those, and approval is rare.
How to Refund a V-Bucks Purchase (Step-by-Step)
- Open Fortnite and go to the main menu
- Click the three lines menu (top right) → Settings
- Go to the Account and Privacy tab
- Scroll to Submit a Request → Return Tickets
- Pick the item you want to refund from the list (only eligible items appear)
- Confirm the return
- The V-Bucks are credited back to your account immediately
What Makes an Item Eligible for Refund
Epic only allows refunds for items purchased in the last 30 days. Items older than 30 days cannot be refunded even if you still have tickets available.
Some additional rules:
- The item must not be currently used in your locker as part of an active outfit combination
- Bundle items are refunded as a whole bundle — you cannot keep some pieces and refund others
- Items obtained for free (Battle Pass rewards, Twitch drops) cannot be refunded
What to Do When You Run Out of Tickets
Once you have used all 3 return tickets, your only option is Epic Games Customer Support:
- Visit https://www.epicgames.com/help
- Submit a refund request explaining your situation
- Include order ID, date, and a clear reason
Epic occasionally grants discretionary refunds for unauthorized purchases (typically children using a parent's card without permission) or technical errors, but never for buyer's remorse.
How to Avoid Needing Refunds
- Preview items in the locker before buying
- Check YouTube for in-game footage of the skin/emote
- Wait 24 hours before purchasing if you are not sure
- Use a child-account or parental controls to require approval
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I refund V-Bucks themselves?
No. V-Bucks (the currency itself) cannot be refunded once purchased. Only items bought with V-Bucks can be.
How long does a V-Bucks refund take?
The V-Bucks are credited back to your account immediately — usually within seconds of confirming the return.
Does refunding a skin remove all the items it came with?
If you bought a bundle, refunding it returns ALL items in the bundle to Epic and refunds the full V-Bucks cost. You cannot refund individual pieces of a bundle.
Will I lose my refund tickets if I get banned and unbanned?
Refund ticket counts are tied to your account permanently. They do not reset.
